Just 50 km north of Barcelona and 40km south of Girona, Calella is now a first-class tourist destination with three magnificent beaches.

The town itself is a treasure-trove of culture and traditions. The charm of its old town, with its straight and narrow streets is centered on the Neoclassical Church of Santa Maria. Mapa Girona

Girona is a sparkling gem of historic Catalonia 103 kilometers from Barcelona, this medieval walled city has a rich cultural heritage with diverse influences from the ancient Romans, Moorish-era Arabs, and Jews. The Old Town was built on the right bank of the Onyar River with colorful houses flanking the waterside. Girona has two areas enclosed within ancient ramparts: the Força Vella, which outlines the original Roman city founded more than 2,000 year ago, and the Medieval Quarter, which expanded the city in the 14th and 15th centuries. These atmospheric historic quarters are filled with narrow pedestrian streets and impressive medieval buildings. The fortress-like Romanesque cathedral was built in the 11th century and updated through the 17th century.

La Garrotxa

La Garrotxa is in the north of Catalonia, at the high basin of the river Fluvià, the Muga estuary and the Amer and Llémena river beds.

In this county you can see two totally different types of countryside. In a large part of the southern half there are more than 40 volcanoes and various lava flows, forming a gentle countryside without dramatic gradients, which is protected by La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. From the Fluvià river valley to the county’s northern limits, the landscape changes dramatically, becoming more dramatic and steeper with an abundance of cliffs and gorges. This is the Alta Garrotxa, which is a declared area of natural interest (Espai d’Interès Natural).
